Every company must have a clear vision of why they are doing what they are doing. Without a clear vision of why we do what we do, it would be impossible for the business to be sustainable after the leadership changes. If the people change, but the vision remains the same the end result will be consistency, integrity and quality. This is true for people's personal lives also. Everyone from time to time lacks direction in their life or things just get blurry. Good parents are priceless commodities and provide direction and a filter for their kids, similar to excellent business leaders. Our company exists to serve our customers, employees and all the people that make up our support structure. If all parties involved with any size decision ask themselves what is in the best interest of the customer and how will it effect the organization as a whole we find true clarity in our decisions and outcome. Decisions should not be based on profitability. Decisions based on strict financial gains do not support a sustainable business and are short sighted. Financial gain is a byproduct of this long term concept. I know that is a risky proposition and sometimes failure may result in the short term but it is the only way to operate for the long haul in business and life. Give it a try and be patient. Yogi Berra-"If you don't know where your going, you'll end up someplace else."
